paella evening night
The XII International Harley Davidson convention was help from 13th-16th of July in the brand new open air site of La Cantera.

The event was attended by over 3000 people bringing with them over 1,200 bikes. Because of the new road this year the site was split in two. The main convention; the stage, beer and food tents and stalls selling all kinds of biker merchandising were all on one side of the road while the new area around The Cantera became a temporary campsite for those who’s come from afar.

As usual the big day was the Saturday. Down the Rambla de Bellvei three giant paellas were made using 150kg of rice, enough to fill the 500 hungry mouths that had come to enjoy the lazy summer atmosphere under the shade of the trees. In the afternoon the fun moved to the Industrial Zone where races were held. These were done in the true American tradition with two bikes racing against each other and begun by the drop of a Harley girl’s scarf.

In the evening the festivities moved into a higher gear. The night’s entertainment included crate climbing, Miss Wet T-shirt competition and, of course, the strip tease. There were also three concerts with the music ranging from country (where the smarter ones could learn the first few basic steps of line dancing) to rock. and AC/DC covers.

Sunday was the day of rest. After a last breakfast a ride out was held in and around Cadafell before the riders headed their separate ways. All in all it was yet another successful meeting.
